What Is Closed Colon Hydrotherapy?
Closed Colon Hydrotherapy is a safe, gentle cleansing of the large intestine using warm, purified water to help eliminate built-up waste, toxins, and gas that may be weighing you down.
At Embody Wellness, we exclusively use FDA-approved closed system equipment, which allows your certified therapist to stay with you throughout the treatment, ensuring total privacy, comfort, and support.
When your colon is overloaded, it affects everything, digestion, skin, mood, energy, and even your nervous system. This isn’t just about a cleanse, it’s about clearing space in your body so healing can begin.
The Cleansing Benefits
Your colon is the main organ for elimination in the body, and if it becomes overwhelmed with excess waste, it cannot absorb nutrients properly or eliminate effectively. Over time, this accumulation can adversely affect other bodily systems, leading to toxicity.
Toxins are present in our everyday lives, from the food we consume to the air we breathe, as well as cleaning products, prescriptions, and other unhealthy lifestyle choices.
Did you know that the average person has 6-10 lbs. of waste in their colon? How can we feel well carrying such a heavy, toxic load in our bodies?
Colon hydrotherapy is a must when undergoing a detox program. It maximizes your detox potential! If you’re not eliminating properly, the toxins are recycled back through your system, causing flu-like symptoms and making you feel ill.
That’s why so many clients say they don’t just feel better after their session…they feel transformed.
Your gut is your second brain, when it’s functioning properly, everything else starts to fall into place.
Who will benefit from Colon Hydrotherapy?
- Constipation
- Low Energy
- Food Intollerances
- Diarrhea
- Joint Pain
- Anxiety or Depression
- Weight Gain
- Brain Fog
- Much more...
Your body is trying to tell you something, and you should pay attention! Our overall wellness starts in the gut. They don’t call it the second brain for nothing!
Your digestive system sends signals to the rest of the body, and when it is underperforming due to a variety of common factors such as antibiotic use, over-the-counter medications, poor diet, and imbalances in gut bacteria, you may experience disease, leading the body to feel DIS-EASE. The goal of colon hydrotherapy is to address the root of the issue naturally.
What can Colon Hydrotherapy do for you?
This treatment goes far beyond digestion. Our clients leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more like themselves, because this is about addressing the root, not masking symptoms.
- Restore gut motility and rebuild the gut-brain connection.
- Remove irritants, excess waste, and allergy triggers.
- Rehydrate your body and promote glowing, clear skin.
- Reset the metabolism and assist with weight loss.
- Rebalance the gut microbiome.
What to expect during your session
We know this can feel vulnerable, especially if it’s your first time. That’s why we offer a nurturing, one-on-one experience designed to help you relax and release physically, emotionally, and energetically.
Your session includes:
- A calming start on our SoQi bed (infrared heat, motion therapy, and music)
- Your choice of essential oils to help soften and relax your abdomen
- A private room for maximum comfort
- Continuous presence and support from your trained colon hydrotherapist
- Optional post-treatment salt bar with high-mineral salts and citrus
- Rehydration recommendations and aftercare support
How to prepare for your treatment
Please avoid eating for about 2 hours before your session. You can drink water but be careful not to overhydrate before your appointment. In the day leading up to your appointment, choose meals that are easy on your stomach. Those who experience chronic constipation may choose to fast for 12-24 hours prior to their scheduled time for a better experience, though not required.
What is the difference between closed and open system colonics?
Closed System Colonics uses water that penetrates more deeply into the body, providing a more thorough, hydrating cleanse. The waste is eliminated through a closed tube, providing a smell- and mess-free experience for most sessions. A therapist remains with you throughout the session to ensure optimal results.
In contrast, Open System Colonics use water to remove waste from the lower colon, which is expelled over an open drain. After demonstrating how to use the machine, the therapist leaves the room.

Frequently Asked Questions
Looking to maximize the benefits of your detox program?
If you are undergoing a liver and gallbladder flush, a parasite cleanse, or a full-body detox, why settle for only partial benefits? If your colon isn’t clean while detoxing, your body may recycle toxins, leaving you feeling sluggish and flu-like. Closed-system colon hydrotherapy can reach much higher in your body than any at-home enema, helping to enhance your detox experience.
Is Colon Hydrotherapy safe?
Yes! We use FDA-approved closed-system equipment in a clean, private space. A trained therapist stays with you the whole time for support.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of treatments required varies for each individual and their specific condition. Typically, an initial series of 3 to 6 sessions is recommended for a gut health “reset.” However, if there is accumulated waste or years of constipation, more sessions may be necessary. Recommendations will be provided during your appointment. We also offer discounted packages and memberships to meet your cleansing needs.

About Melissa
After a lifetime of chronic pain and numerous diagnoses, she came across a group of women who had regained their health after having their breast implants removed. She went forward with an En Bloc Capsulectomy explant surgery while ill from toxins leaking inside her body. Post-surgery, she contracted a MRSA infection, and during one of her many hospital stays, she caught Covid. For eight months, she was unable to eat solid food, had debilitating pain, and used a walker for assistance. She was having anaphylactic reactions caused by mast cell activation, which is prevalent with long-haul Covid, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and systemic inflammation.
Her long recovery was also caused by her compromised immune system due to Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth (SIBO) from long-term use of antibiotics prescribed by doctors that destroyed her gut. She was feeling unheard by doctors who had tried and failed to help her, she turned to Colon Hydrotherapy and Detox to support her body. It was the missing link to regaining her health, and so her journey began to help those like her.
She’s grateful for the knowledge she’s obtained throughout her search for recovery and feels humbled to be able to apply it to help others. Today, she’s a resource for information on breast implant illness and detoxification.
